My inquiry group and I had our first meeting this past Thursday. Together we discussed topics taught in The Relevant Educator as well as the iStudent. This discussion ended up being a very lucrative discussion about the topics discussed in the book. What I love the most about my inquiry group is our ability to disagree with the text. We don't feel the need to "bow down" to the author and their ideas. We were able to talk about our different experiences through field experience and life to understand, and analyze the text. We each posed a question to the group and answer them. The questions posed were:
1. How do we minimize cyberbullying in the 21st century classroom?
2. How do we break the digital divide?
3. What does a teacher do if her account is hacked?
4. What age is appropriate to implement technology?
Through these discussion questions we were able to pose many different, and dynamic answers. However, we did have some questions left unanswered. Is there any way that teachers can truly prevent cyberbullying or something like hacking that is out of our control? I am looking forward to having further discussions with my group. The first meeting has us off to a great start. We all take our commitment to the content and to the class seriously. We look forward to finding more solutions to the 21st Century problems posed to teachers today.
